Verdas einaste kvinnefredsskip "Embla" The only women-peaceship of the world "Embla"

	1000 år etter vikingtoktene reiser EMBLA-kvinnene ut i verda med fredsskipet «Embla» for å spreie bodskapen om fred og internasjonal forståing. Embla-kvinnene vil vere fargerike og glade. Vi vil nytte kulturen som reiskap og skape haldningar til fred og samhald. «Embla»-skipet er vår «Speakers Corner».

	Basen er Bjørkedalen på Nordvestlandet av Norge.

	Stiftinga EMBLA - «kvinneskipet ro for fred» vart skipa 24.10.92.

	«Embla» vart døypt på Nordfjordeid 28. Mai 1994 med Astrid Nøklebye Heiberg som Gudmor.

	Første oppdraget var Nordisk Forum i Åbo, Finland, 1994. Vi tok del i opningsseremonien, arrangerte fredsseminar og barnas dag, tok del i Kunstens Natt og profilerte kommunane våre Volda, Eid og Herøy. Internasjonal dåp med barne- og familieminister Grete Berget som internasjonal gudmor.

	1995 starta med eigen fredskonferanse i Bjørkedalen som markering av 50 år med fred i landet.

	«Vikingaladen» Saffle - Arvika, Sverige 10. - 15. juni 1995. «Embla» var eit av tre vikingskip som vart losa fram på den gamle pilgrimsvegen mot Nidaros. Vi nytta song og musikk, lys og symbolikk for å fremje fredsbodskapen. «Embla» was of of three vikingsships who passed along the old pilgrimway to Nidaros. We used song and music, fire and synmbol to promote the peace message

	Kvinneuniversitetet Nord og Steigen Sagaspel 2. -3. august 1995. The Womens University and Steigen Historical Play. EMBLA var invitert til å halde foredrag om fred ved Kvinneuniversitet Nord og nytte skipet i sagaspelet. Fredsppell vart framført under eit gripande arrangement i ein bunkers frå krigen der det vart sett fokus på ytterpunkta krig - fred. EMBLA was invited to talk aout peace at The Womens University North and act in the historical play with the ship. An appeal focusing war - peace was held in a bunker from the second world war.

	Embla-utsending på FNs 4 verdskonferanse for kvinner i Beijing sept. 1995 . Represented at UN s 4^th World Conference on Women in Beijing 1995. Rønnaug Leite deltok som observatør på konferansen, informerte om EMBLA som fredsorganisasjon og knytta fredskontaker. EMBLA var ein av pådrivarane for ein dato der kvinner verda over kan stå saman om markering av kvinners fredssyn; Internasjonal kvinnedag for fred og nedrustning: 24 Mai. Rønnaug Leite represented EMBLA as an observer and informed about the peaceorganisation EMBLA in the Nordic Room. EMBLA took part in The Peace Tent-discussions and promoted one date that women all over the world marked women and peace; 24 May - International Day for Peace and Disarmament.

	Deltaking under opninga av verdsgymnaset i Fjaler, Norge - 30. sept. 1995. United World College, Fjaler, Norway. Embla med mannskap låg på vågen og kasta glans over den store hendinga. Dronning Sonja og dronning Noor av Jordan viste kvinnefredsskipet si merksemd. Embla with crew glamoured this happening together with other cultureships on the fjord. The Norwegian Queen Sonja and Noor The Queen of Jordan payed attention to the women-peaceship.

	1000-års markeringa for kristning av Norge i Eid og Herøy 1995, Selje 1996 og Normandie/Frankrike 1997. 1000 years since christening of Norway was marked by Embla in Eid and Herøy 1995, in Selja 1996 and Normandie, France 1997.
	We are women, we are mothers, we are grandmothers! Therefore EMBLA - «The womenship row for peace». «Embla», our pilgrimship, has brought us to the wholy island of Selja. The oars are our pilgrimsticks. Today we celebraate the the memory of 1000 years since christening of the country, but we also celebrate our mothers who from the creation has given life and protection to alle humans. Very soon we are starting av new 1000-year. Let the nexth 1000-year be named as «The 1000-year peace» where national service for peace replace millitary seervice. The Peaceship Embla - a transformed warship - will trough symbolism and action go into «The 1000-year peace» and TURN WAR TO PEACE. Let us all, men and women take an oarstroke for peace. 	EMBLA i Gangerolf (Rollon) sine fotsport til Eu i Normandie med 1000-års fakkelen 1997. EMBLA in the footsteps of Gangerolf (Rollon) from Ålesund to Eu in Normandie bringing the 1000-year fire.

	"Norway Day Festival" 1998 - San Fransisco, Calefornia. EMBLA marknadsførte Norge som fredsnasjon i forbindelse med arrangementet. "Star Shipping" frakta fredsskipet "Embla" gratis tur/retur. The Peaceship "Embla" was shipped over to San Fransisco for "Norway Day Festival" where the women of EMBLA underlined Norway as peace-nation. "Anker of Peace" - samarbeid med Heidi Kuhn "Anker for Peace"-seremoni stated cooperation with "Roots of Peace".

	Riga 800. EMBLA representerte Norge under Riga sitt 800 års jubileum 17. august 2001 Vi var synlege på elva Daugava og heldt fredsseremoni framfor fridomsstatua midt i byen. "Embla-skipet" var lasta med hjelpesending til Bene + sjekk på kr 25.000,- til utbetring av sanitæranlegget ved kulen i den vesle landsbyen. Riga 800. "Embla" was part of the 800 year celebrating of Riga town in Latvia at the river Daugava and light ceremony at the peace monument in the heart of the town. The ship was loaded with help to Bene and we brougth a cheque of nkr 25.000,- to renovate the showerroom at the school in the small village.
	I lasta tilbake hadde vi flotte blomemåleri for sal i Norge. We brought back a lot of nice flower-paintings.

	Lokalt og regionalt er EMBLA med på å ta vare på kystkulturen ved å stille på båtdraging, rokonkurransar og sagaspel. I 1997 frakta Embla-kvinnene skrinet med kulturminner både i Herøy og på Nordfjorden. Local and regional is EMBLA part of costculturearrangements like competitions, boatdragging and historical plays. In 1997 the Embla-women rowed culture-cocuments in a fjord race.

	Samarbeid med kvinner i Mbala/Zambia 2000/2001/2002. Eid kommune har inngått ei samarbeidsavtale med Mbala i Zambia. EMBLA har som frivilleg organisasjon fått knyte seg opp mot samarbeidet. Rønnaug Leite reiste saman med Eid kommune sine utsendingar til Mbala i mai 2001. Vi har vore pådrdivarar for å få kvinner med i utvekslingsprosjektet, samt kommunikasjon med kvinnene ved hjelp av IKT. Det er utarbeidd ei intensjonsavtale om samarbeid, og vi har støtta kvinnegrupper med symaskiner. Delegasjonane frå Mbala er med og ror "Embla" i Bjørkedalen. EMBLA is part of the cooperation between Eid Commune and Mbala in Zambia. Our representative went to Mbala in May 2001. We want women to be part of the delegations visiting Norway and e-mail communication. The delegations from Mbala come to row the peace-ship at Bjørkedalen lake and we arrange a light ceremoy together.

	EMBLA/Volda har hatt årlege samlingar med flyktningekvinner og born i Bjørkedalen. Embla/Volda have arranged sosial meetings for refugee-women and children i Bjørkedalen.

EMBLA har støtta IGALO-prosjektet - barneheim i Romania og EMBLA/Eid har tala for fred i familien ved å stø opp om Krisesenteret. EMBLA has acted for The IGALO-project - a childrens home in Romania and EMBLA/Eid has promoted peace in family by supporting The Crise-senter for women.

Womens voice has to be heard! Kvinner i leiande stillingar/Kvinner må kunne delta i utforming av millitærpolitikk . EMBLA samarbeider med fredsrørsla nasjonalt og internasjonalt n medlem i Norges Fredsråd som igjen er medlem i IPB n arkiv ved Kornhaug Norsk Fredssenter EMBLA is member of The Norwegian Peace Council and send all documents to Kornhaug Norwegian Peace Senter. EMBLA har fått omtale i fredsbladet LINK der Tulle Elster er redaktør. EMBLA - a new and different «grassroot»-organization - presented in the peace-magazine LINK. Embla-kvinnene arrangerer kvart år internt fredssemiar i Bjørkedalen i forbindelse med FN-dagen. The Embla-women have their own peace-seminar in Bjørkedalen close up to 24^th October. INFO UD gav i 1996 støtte til utarbeiding av fredshefte til opplæringsbruk. EMBLA arbeider kontinuerleg med utarbeiding av informasjon om prosjektet, kva vi konkret arbeider med og temahefter/fredsopplæring. UD har gjeve støtte til etablering av webside. 	IKT EMBLA vil nytte IT for å knyte band verda over! EMBLA want to use IT to communicate with women all over the world to promote solidarity!

	KNOPPSKYTING Bli med - ta eit «åretak» for fred! Der «Embla» ror, FRED gror … EMBLA want to expand. We want women to join our organization and our engagement. We want women to make groops in their own region; «row for peace».

	BASE EMBLA sin «draum» er eige freds-hus med naust til kvinnefresskipet. Vi startar med å byggje naust i Bjørkedalen sesongen 2002! EMBLA has a dream; an own house with room for the peaceship.
